PESHAWAR: Junaid Altaf, the newly elected president of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has formally unveiled a comprehensive agenda and priorities as per vision of Businessman Forum leadership to achieve them and to boost economic and trade activities during his tenure.
Junaid Altaf presented the agenda during the Annual General Meeting of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry held here at the chamber on Monday.
Ghazanfar Bilour, leader of the Businessman Forum and former president FPCCI was guest of honour at the event.
In the AGM, head of Election Commission Malik Niaz Ahmad formally announced names of newly elected president Junaid Altaf, Senior Vice president Muhammad Nadeem and Vice president Sabir Ahmad Bangash while Secretary General SCCI Muqtasid Ahsan done proceeding of ordinary and special business in which, under directions of Directorate General Trade Organization (DGTO), and got approval of amendments in the chamber Memorandum and Article of Association.
SCCI senior vice president Muhammad Nadeem, Vice president Sabir Ahmad Bangash, members of the chamber’s executive committee, prominent members, dignitaries, distinguished guests, president WCCIP Ms Qurtul Ain, women businesspeople, members and importantly honourable members were present during AGM in a large number.
Junaid Altaf comprehensively highlighted the key priorities set for the next year, stating that SCCI will effectively enforce open door policy for all members and they will feel visible change in this year and must be proud, being a member of the chamber.
Our mission to transform the chamber on the path of modernization, rigidness and more advancement.
Junaid Altaf assured that he will not disappoint the leadership of Businessman Forum, members and traders. He promised he would take effective measures to provide maximum relief to the community.
The chamber president narrated the ordeals of the business community and promised to address genuine grievances and demands of the traders by effectively taking up with government departments and authorities concerned at central and provincial level.
Junaid Altaf elaborated the set priorities, including setting up of a state of the art centre to provide multiple facilities to members under single roof, strengthening of research and development cell, engagement with stakeholders, conducting of think tank sessions, continuation of memorandum of understanding with various institutions, completion of a modernized Expo Centre Peshawar, improving banking liaison and financial facilities, strengthening Public-private linkages, boost the industrial, trade and export to generate employment opportunities.
Furthermore, he said SCCI will play an effective advocacy role and ensure representation in various government departments/institutions at federal and provincial level, playing a role to bridge the gap between government institutions and business community, and resolve their issues on a fast-track basis.
We want to ensure enabling an environment for all business and trade and provide more space and opportunities to strengthen and improve their businesses and franchises to continue their role in economic development and prosperity of the country.
On the occasion, SCCI chief presented key demands, urging federal and provincial governments take pragmatic steps for ease of doing business, revisiting current tax-policy, avoiding anti-business actions, adopting business friendly policy, provision of facilities to investors, traders under one-window operation, prompt resolution of border-related issues.
Earlier, Mr Ghazanfar Bilour, leader of the Businessman Forum in his keynote speech enumerated the key achievements of the chamber, stating SCCI has always extended services without any discrimination, we have adopted the policy for Chamber for All, and its doors are open for all.
He thanked the business community for reposing trust on Businessman Forum and assured SCCI will continue selfless services to members, traders and industrialists.
